Collection on Riley M. Adams, 1919-1920.

The collection consists of a series of eight separate articles published in The Vineland Historical Magazine, the journal of the Vineland [NJ] Historical and Antiquarian Society in 1919-1920, Volumes IV and V. The articles comprise the edited diary of Riley Adams, a student who attended the American Literary, Scientific, and Military Academy in Norwich, VT, the forerunner of Norwich University. The introduction to the published articles was written by Frank D. Andrews, then owner of the original journal. The published journal itself runs from 17 August-11 December 1824 and deals with the daily life of a homesick cadet as well as a pedestrian excursion to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. A typed transcription of the journal articles was prepared in 1949 and is available with the collection.
